Prelude's Crew

Ed and Regina

Regina Jordan, Commodore

Regina earned her MA degree from Montclair State University in Business Education. After teaching for six years in high school and college she decided on a business career in sales and marketing. She was employed by Eastman Kodak Company as a sales representative and a national accounts manager and by Lotus Development Corporation as a senior marketing representative serving the investment banking corporations in New York City. Since winning a scholarship to the Culinary Institute of America at the Grand Marnier Culinary Competition at the St. Thomas Boat Show, she's been attending classes at the CIA and the Institute of Culinary Education. After 9/11 she volunteered at the NYC Chief Medical Examiner.  In addition to being a snorkeler and scuba diver, Regina is an avid runner (1998 NYC Marathon) and hiker.

Ed Bacon, Captain

Ed has skippered or crewed on over 30 vessels, has lived aboard for 36 years, and has earned a USCG 100 ton license.  He had land lives as a South Jersey kid, an undergrad at the University of Delaware, a grad student at Rutgers University, a First Lieutenant in the US Army, a Manhattanite, and an IBMer (took the stock market two years to realize he was gone). Ed realized his dream of being captain of his own vessel but then was outranked by Regina (she told him to get in step as they walked back down the aisle at their 1988 wedding).  In addition to being a snorkeler, scuba diver and windsurfer, Ed is an avid cockpit potato.

Ollie, Able-bodied Sea Pup

A Bacon Yacht Charter is no longer a Mom and Pop operation.  Due to increased business levels, we decided to take on additional crew.  We were looking for crew with the following characteristics:

·         Sure-footed on the decks.  Extra credit awarded for 4 feet.

·         Ability to assist Regina in the galley.  Extra credit awarded for swift clean up of food droppings during food preparation.

·         An international flair.  Extra credit awarded to a Mediterranean ancestry.

·         Capable of using a marine head.  Extra credit for use of nearby dock or park.

·         Low weight.  Extra credit given for less than 10 pounds so that Regina can safely transfer him from the boat to the dock during a raging snowstorm while Ed pretends he's a quadrapalegic.

·         Young enough to train to be a valued sea dog.

After an eight-month search, we  found the ideal crew member.  Oliver Maxwell Bacon, aka Ollie, a Malte-poo weighing 4 pounds, 4 ounces,  passed his one-week trial and  agreed to ship out on the Prelude for room, board and interesting toys.  We  performed a background check and mirabile dictu, he has a Maltese and French poodle background and loves to vacuum the galley with his tongue.

So, meet the new crewmember:
